This is for when I look back in a few years a say, “of course”. When I started in this programming journey I thought the answers were going to come from the school. That things would be straight forward. It took a few lessons before I realized that google is the best resource that a programmer has and the school forcing me to use it was the best thing the school could teach me. Coming across things I hadn’t expected was going to be, in many ways, the job itself. But this awareness was superficial until this project came along. The biggest take away from it was to use all the resources at your disposal. For me that meant not only the internet, but to also stop avoiding pry.

While I knew pry was a great tool before the project, I guess I felt things were manageable and I should know what everything was either way. Clearly I was just starting and what I was working on was more manageable than anything. When you find yourself dealing with anything bigger than a quick little lab put together to introduce a concept to someone that is just starting its easy to find yourself in a position were things don't work and your left wondering, it worked for this why not that. And in any profession the goal of your employment is to create less work for the people around you, not more, so going and asking someone something you should be able to solve yourself is never the answer. Ultimately that is what triggered me. I asked my teacher a question that could of easily been answer if I just used pry. After that I looked more into pry and am glad I did because I am not sure I could of finished the project without it.

Ultimately the take away is UUUSSSEEEE everything that can make your life easier. Learn were to look to learn. Learn all the tools at your disposal. Because you will inevitably need help and at that point you will either solve the problem, or be the guy who doesn’t.
